The AI-Climate Environment Lab conducts AI-driven research in weather and climate prediction, as well as climate change science, across a broad range of time scales, from short-term weather forecasting to seasonal prediction and long-term climate change analysis. Our research focuses on weather and climate foundation models, global monitoring systems, seasonal prediction methods, and climate change analysis. By leveraging big-data analysis and AI techniques, we aim to understand the complex interactions among the atmosphere, ocean, and land systems and to predict their future changes. Ultimately, our goal is to deepen scientific understanding of climate and environmental challenges and to develop reliable and practical prediction technologies. AI-Climate Environment Lab은 AI를 활용한 기상·기후 예측과 기후변화 연구를 수행하는 연구실로, 단기 기상부터 계절 예측, 장기 기후변화에 이르기까지 다양한 시간 규모의 Earth system을 연구합니다. 우리는 기상·기후 Foundation Model, 전지구 모니터링 시스템, 계절 예측 기법, 그리고 기후변화 분석을 주요 연구 주제로 삼고 있으며, big-data analysis와 AI techniques를 바탕으로 대기·해양·지면 시스템의 복합적 상호작용을 이해하고 미래 변화를 예측하고자 합니다. 이를 통해 기후 및 환경 문제에 대한 과학적 이해를 넓히고, 실질적이고 신뢰할 수 있는 예측 기술을 개발하는 것을 목표로 합니다.
